Blogger income reports are all the rage right now. While I do enjoy reading them, I don’t really learn much from them. Well, other than it IS possible to make a full time income blogging. I decided to do my own rendition, but focusing more on my blog goals.
Eventually, I may add my income reports to the mix. But honestly, even though I LOVE to read them from other people, I am not sure it is something I am comfortable doing.
At the beginning of each month I am going to share my goals, share how I fared on my goals from the previous month and go over anything I new.

November Blog Goals
Double My Pinterest Reach
On November first my Pinterest reach was 26,000/month. My goal for this month is to reach 57K/month.
There is no real science behind this goal. In my mind a larger reach equals more clicks. But hey, I could totally be wrong on this.
25 Group Boards
This goal may be hard to reach this month. I applied to 30 group boards a couple of weeks ago and have only heard back (and been accepted) into 4 of them.
I am not sure why that is. Maybe I don’t have a large enough following or perhaps people just don’t check their emails often.
We’ll see what happens.
16 Blog Posts
I only published 4 posts in October. I was trying a different method that many people talk about.
The method where you only post one great post a week and focus more of your efforts promoting you blog.
This month I am trying something different because, while I was happy with my growth last month, I don’t think that only posting once a week at this point is really going to work for me. So, I am trying something new!
I will talk more about this in a moment.
This is really something I should have finished LAST month but I kept changing my mind about what I wanted to offer.
After a ton of brainstorming, taking my best posts and reader emails (yes I have started getting those!) into consideration I have FINALLY nailed down an opt-in that I think my audience will enjoy.
I am really excited to get this finished and start building my email list.
Invest in Convert Kit
I have really hemmed and hawed over this one but after a few trials, I just don’t like the other services I tried.
As much as I didn’t want start paying for an email service at the beginning, I am going to bite the bullet on this one.
If you want to run a blog as a BUSINESS you have to invest in your business somewhere.
Double My Traffic
My goal for the next 4 months is to double my traffic each month. October ended with 2,130 page views so my goal is to reach around 4000 page views this month, give or take a couple hundred.
I am going to reach this goal by continuing to network with other bloggers and dive deep into the depths of Pinterest this month.
I know that a lot of people are saying that you shouldn’t chase page views and that you can make a very good income with a small following.
That may very well be true, but I am more interested in passive income. One of my blog goals is to make the large majority of my income from ads and affiliate links. I would rather do the work up front and then get paid for it over time.
I need tons of page views to do that! Talk about lofty blog goals!
This is the number one thing that anyone serious about blogging should do. Join lots of networking groups and see which ones work best for what you offer on your blog.
That last part is important because the whole point of these groups is to learn from each other and share each other’s posts. Your posts need to be something that fits into those audiences too other wise your posts won’t get shared.
For example, one group I was in was full of many, many, finance and travel bloggers. Most of them didn’t have children or were retired. What I write for my audience didn’t fit in with their audience, so my work wasn’t being shared and vice versa.
What Didn’t Work
Not all networking groups are created equal.
What I mean by this is that you will find that some groups are ran much differently than others.
Out of about 20 groups I was in I have decided to focus the vast majority of my efforts on ONE networking group. This particular group is a mom’s only group and we are all working for the same goal.
The admins of the group are also very active in making sure people follow the rules so everybody’s work gets shared fairly.
New Things to Try
My biggest blog goals this month revolve around Pinterest. If this is the ONLY goal I reach this month I will be happy!
I kept seeing all these blog posts with titles like “Explode Your Pageviews by Using This!” and different iterations. Every one of those posts talked about the e-book “Pinteresting Strategies.”
So out of curiosity, I bought it. The main appeal for me is that the author doesn’t recommend using a scheduler! Nor does she say you have to spend hours and hours pinning. This is very much about being strategic in what and how you pin.
I read through it and now I am ready to dive in and see what my results are over the next few months.
Post More Often
Above I mentioned that I was going to post more this month. I decided to do this based on some research. If you don’t know, I am a mega-researcher.
Many very successful bloggers post at least 3 times a week with a lot of them posting DAILY. I honestly don’t know how they keep up with that!
My experiment this month is to post 16 posts this month. This will put me around 3 posts a week. It is a feasible goal in my eyes.
I also decided to post more often because each time I post something new, I seem to get an influx of search traffic from google. It may just be a coincidence who know for sure!
Invest in Paid Stock Photos
This is another place I really need to bite the bullet and invest in my business. I spend way too much time scouring the web for free stock photos that aren’t’ already plastered all over Pinterest.
I feel this is a better way to stand out in the crowd…at least when it comes to Pinterest.
This is just other, somewhat random blog goals for the month!
Update about page…it has been a couple years since I updated that and a lot has changed.
Start thinking about goals for 2018.
Affiliate Programs…I am in a few so I need to do some posts about them! I am pretty excited about this!
Play around with my ads…the single ad I had up the last 2 weeks of October actually converted better than I had expected it to. I know I can have 2 more per page I just need to figure out how to add them to blog posts.
