For months now I have been searching for the “secret sauce” to growing a blog. What I have found is that there is no one size fits all approach but there are some things you can do to really grow your blog traffic.
Over the past several months I kept running across blog posts that had headlines like “explode your blog growth overnight.” At first they really seemed to be over the top but I clicked on them anyway out of curiosity.

Every single one of those posts was talking about how they used Pinteresting Strategies to grow their blog through Pinterest.
At first I thought this was way too good to be true and that perhaps people were pumping it up so much to get sales.
After reading about a hundred of these glowing reviews I HAD to just read it for myself. I have a super tight budget for blogging related stuff so I was really hoping I didn’t blow the last bit of my budget.
Also, I am SUPER skeptical when it comes to buying courses online made by other bloggers. You would probably have a heart attack if I told you how much I have spent on books and courses over the past 2 years. I have read and gone through many, many duds. MANY!
Here is what sold me…
This is the first “how to grow your blog” product that I have thought was worth every penny. What really sold me on Pinteresting Strategies was that the author doesn’t tell you to use a pin scheduler! Now, to be fair, Carly (the author) does use Tailwind but mainly for the analytics and eventually I plan to do the same.
However, as someone who simply CANNOT pay for yet another monthly service at the moment this was refreshing! Until I had read this I really thought that I was going to have to wait until I could afford the monthly fee of Tailwind to see anymore traffic from Pinterest.
That is simply not true.
A few other things that are untrue as well…
…You are going to have to spend hours and hours a day pinning hundreds of pins.
Totally not true. I only spend roughly 30 minutes to MAYBE an hour pinning and repining. It is all about pinning strategically that makes the difference here.
…Only bloggers that have thousands of followers are successful on Pinterest.
False again. Pinterest is one of those things that you get what you give. If you half-heartedly try to build your Pinterest presence then you will only get a small return for your effort. To grow your Pinterest reach you HAVE to be consistent and strategic no matter what method you use.
…You will grow overnight.
This is a big negative as well! You will grow quickly using Pinteresting Strategies but it WILL NOT be overnight. I saw a big difference after following Carly’s advice CONSISTENLY for about 2 weeks. Much like anything worth doing, this doesn’t come without a bit of work.
I am not going to sit here and say my growth “exploded” but it did increase significantly in just a couple of weeks. My blog went from getting about 5 Pinterest referrals a week to about 50-100 a day by the end of my first month implementing the strategies. I also need to add that I have only been added to 6 group boards as well. Try as I might, getting accepted to group boards is tough as a smaller blogger.
Sure, I am still a long way from where I want to be but I will get there as long as I keep putting in the work.
